Former SC Villa player Oscar Mawa has joined Italian lower division side Lucera Calico.
The club decided to sign Mawa after an impressive performance in which he bagged a hattrick.
Lucera Calico announced Oscar Mawa’s signing via their social media pages by praising him.
“The sky-white club announces that it has arranged to sign Oscar Mawa.Striker class 2005, Ugandan Yumbe has his quickness and explosive power qualities, highlighted in the Sports Club Villa Jogo. (Ugandan Premier League) so much to attract the attention of the Gru, who have selected him time and again for all the national teams.”
He was also over the moon after signing for the club as he sais;
“I can’t wait to play, I’ve been waiting for this moment for months that’s why I’ve always worked with dedication and commitment, waiting for my situation to unlock and for that I thank the company for the hard work done: I knew that before or then my time would come.”
The 17 year old netted 6 goals as Uganda won the CECAFA U17 cup in Kigali two years ago.
Mawa came up through the KCCA FC youth academy.
He then went ahead to sign for SC Villa on a one year contract at the start of the 2021-22 season.
