The reigning champions of the Uganda Premier League Vipers SC have today unveiled their third signing of the ongoing January transfer window.
The club announced how it has signed an attacking midfielder from DR Congo, Serge Robert Mwenge.
Mwenge joins the Venoms on a 2 year deal that will keep at Kitende until 2025.
Mwenge has previously played for some of the powerhouse clubs in DR Congo such as AS Vita and Saint Loi Lupopo.
He becomes Vipers third signing of this transfer window after Martin Kiiza from Express and Karim Ndugwa from BUL FC.
Mwenge is expected to fight for a playing spot with the likes of Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye, Najib Yiga, Mpongo and others.
This signing also means that Vipers now has six Congolese players.
The other 5 are Alfred Macumu Mudekereza, Olivier Osomba, Gracia Mpongo Mbombo, Rodriguez Shamamba and Darcy Mbaka Kipoyi.
Vipers will be aiming to put up a show in the CAF Champions League where they qualified for the group stages for the first time ever.
They are also two points behind KCCA who are top of the UPL table and this is another silverware they will be eying.
Also not forgetting the Stanbic Uganda cup which they are also the current champions.
Vipers meanwhile yesterday unveiled Robertinho’s successor, another Brazilian Roberto Luiz Bianchi Pelliser.
