Wazito FC which plays in the top flight of the Kenyan Premier League has appointed veteran Ugandan coach, Paul Nkata as their new headcoach.
Nkata has signed on a short term contract until the end of the season.
Wazito has been under Jeff Odongo who was appointed on an interim basis.
Odongo however left the club for Kakamega Homeboyz as an assistant coach.
Nkata has been coaching Muhoroni Youth which plays in the second tier and almost earned them promotion to the top tier.
Nkata almost found himself at Gor Mahia.
The club however changed their minds at the last moment and appointed German tactician Andreas Spier.
Apparently, Nkata has cut a figure for himself in Kenya as he’s managed a number of sides.
These include Tusker, Nairobi City Stars, Kakamega Homeboyz, Bandari and Muhoroni Youth on two stints.
Nkata in 2016 won a double with Tusker.
He however found himself at the top of controversy layer after being accused of match fixing while at Kakamega Homeboyz.
He was however cleared of any wrongdoing by FIFA.
The coach has also coached several sides in Uganda.
These include Express, SC Villa, URA FC, Kira Young, Mbarara City, Misindye FC, Masaka City FC and national U20 team among others.
Currently Wazito are 16th on the table of 18 with nine points from 12 games.
His main role will be to help them past relegation and his first game is against former Uganda Cranes coach Jonathan McKinstry’s Gor Mahia.
