February 27, 2023

Paidha Black Angels has been admitted back into the Stanbic Uganda Cup by FUFA. After they lodged a complaint against Kisugu United.

The West Nile side fell to the Kampala regional side in the round of 32 courtesy of a penalty shootout.

After a 1-1 draw in the full 90 minutes, Kisugu progressed to the round of 16 via penalty kicks which they won 5-4.

In Paidha Black Angels petition, Kisugu fielded 3 ineligible players in the fixture. This happened on the Friday, 17th February at Bugolobi Coffee Ground.

These players are Hamza Kasumba, Samuel Matovu and Mugisha Richard and it’s true they weren’t licensed by FUFA.

“On the analysis of the above, the CDP was satisfied that the players Kasumba Hamza, Matovu Samuel and Mugisha Richard were ineligible to play in the match. They were not licensed to play for Kisugu United at the time of the match.” Read part of the ruling

“On the consequences, Kisugu United loses the match by forfeiture and is eliminated from the competition.”

“Paidha Black Angels, the opponent in the match progresses to the next round of the stanbic Uganda Cup.” reads a ruling from FUFA Disciplinary panel.

Apparently 15 teams now have been cleared to play in the round of 16.

These were initially 16 but FUFA controversially ordered for the replay of the game between SC Villa and BUL FC.

The round of 16 draw is expected to be held this week at the FUFA Complex in Mengo.
