The Uganda U20 national football team the Hippos yesterday qualified for the last 8 in the ongoing AFCON U20 tournament in Egypt.
It was the toss of a coin which decided who held the top spot im group B between Uganda and Congo Brazzaville.
It should be recalled that the Hippos amd Congo Brazzaville finished the group stages all having 5 points.
Uganda beat Central African Republic 2-1, drew 2-2 with Congo Brazzaville and then shared the spoils with South Sudan in a nil nil draw.
On the other hand, Congo Brazzaville had just the similar stats as the Hippos.
It should be recalled that both countries came into the game already having secured qualification to the last 8.
This is because the best 2 losers were set to earn qualification to the last 8.
However, the leader of Group B was determined by tossing a coin which is the only outlined way in such a scenario.
Jackson Mayanja‘s side will now face Nigeria in the last 8.
Meanwhile this is the second consecutive time the Hippos are qualifying for the last 8 in the tournament.
They achieved this feat in 2021 under current KCCA coach Morley Byekwaso.
Hippos and SC Villa midfielder Travis Mutyaba was meanwhile named man of the match in the game against South Sudan.
