March 9, 2023

There have been some surprise inclusions in the provisional 30 man squad that Uganda Cranes coach Milutin Sredojevic aka Micho has named.

Left back Joseph Ochaya who plays for Egyptian side Al Mokawloon has been among the named players.

Goalkeeper Salim Jamal Magoola who plays for South African side Richard’s Bay also returns to the squad after a very long time away.

These two have been so scintillating for their respective teams and their place is well deserved in the squad.

Fahad Bayo who now plays for Czech Republic side MFK Vyskov is among the named players as well as Asante Kotoko forward Steven Desse Mukwala.

Uganda Hippos duo Rogers Mugisha and Travis Mutyaba are in the squad as well as Dundee United forward Sadat Anaku.

The Cranes are set to take to a double header against neighbors Tanzania.

After failing to get clearance for any stadium in the country as all those available don’t meet the standards, Uganda Cranes will host Tanzania from Egypt.

The team is expected to get into camp next week.

The Cranes will host Tanzania at the Suez Canal Authority stadium on the 24th March.

A return leg will then be played 4 days later in Dar es Salaam.

According to the available program the local based players will take on Kitara region on Friday, 17th in Bundibugyo district.

For the foreign based players, they will join the team in Cairo as per their football clubs.

Currently Algeria has 6 points and tops group F.

Niger and Tanzania follow suit with two points each.

Uganda has just one point from the two games so far played and sits bottom of the group.
