Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) FC has advanced to the last 8 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup at the expense of Mbarara City.
The Uganda Premier League side won the game by 2-1 at the Philip Omondi stadium.
Rogers Mato gave KCCA the lead in the second minute after slotting the ball past Mbarara City FC’s goalkeeper.
Both teams made attempts at each other’s goal without finding the back of the net.
Mbarara City however equalized through Henry Kitegenyi in the 37th minute.
KCCA then had the better possession and goal threat for the last minutes of the first half.
The half time whistle blew with the score level at 1-1.
With the second half underway, the hosts tried to capitalize on their advantage.
It was however until the 65th minute when Congolese forward Simon Kakonde found the back of the net to give the Kasasiro boys the lead.
The Ankore Lions couldn’t provide another comeback after falling behind for the second time in the game.
And this left KCCA as the new entrants into the last 8 of the tournament.
