Ian Wright identifies player Arsenal can’t lose in hunt for EPL glory

Arsenal legend Ian Wright seems to concur with many Arsenal fans about the only player who seems like he’s irreplaceable in the Gunners squad.

The Arsenals are hunting for their first League title since 2004 and are currently top of the table.

Mikel Arteta‘s side has so far collected 69 points from 28 outings.

Their major threat Manchester City follows closely with 61 points with a game in hand.

Ian Wright therefore believes that as the Gunners hunt for glory, they can’t afford to lose Thomas Partey.

The Ghanaian holding midfielder has been an integral part in the club’s brilliant run in the league.

In fact most of the games they have dropped points, Partey has been absent.

According to Wright, the former Atletico Madrid player’s fitness will prove crucial to the Gunners EPL quest.

“You don’t want to lose someone like Thomas Partey for any amount of time. We lost William Saliba. But they seem to have taken the [injury] hits up until this point,” Wright said on The Kelly & Wrighty Show.

Despite the injury problems suffered by the London club in this season, they have maintained their grip at the top.

A long term injury to Gabriel Jesus was well managed after Eddie Nketiah stepped in.

Currently French defender William Saliba is out after an injury in the Europa League against Sporting Lisbon.

Takehiro Tomiyasu’s season was also cut short with an injury.

Egyptian, Mohammed Elneny is soon returning while the other players all seem available.

“That’s one thing people criticised Arsenal for and said, ‘let’s see when you get injuries to your key players’ – we’ve had injuries to all of our main players, and still amongst it,” Wright added.

According to Ian Wright, the pressure now lies on his former club in the remaining 10 games.

“It’s now how they finish off with the pressure that is going to ramp up for these last games with the injuries that may come,” he said.

The Gunners will be back in action on Saturday 1st April as they host Leeds United.
