Erling Halaand makes record neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo could make

April 12, 2023

Last night so Pep Guardiola‘s side Manchester City strolled comfortably past Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League at the Etihad Stadium.

A first half goal from Rodri and second half goals from Bernado Silva and the mercurial goal poacher Erling Braut Halaand gave the Citizens a comfortable first leg lead.

The two sides played a thrilling encounter and despite the scoreline, Bayern were equally brilliant. Well this game yet saw Halaand bag new records as has been all season long ever since he joined the 2021-22 Premier League champions.

His goal against the Bavarians was his 45th overall in all competitions. This is a new Premier League record.

No player in the league has ever scored as many goals in all competitions in a single campaign.

Further he now has 11 goals in this UEFA Champions League making him the top scorer. The Norwegian also now has 34 champions league goals from just 26 appearances at the age of 21.

His goal ratio is at 1.31 more than anyone who has ever played in the Champions League. The competition’s top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo who has 140 goals did not have a single goal in his first 25 appearances and this tells how Halaand is just too good.

And who knows, by the time he’s done playing he will have broken all the records that come his way.

Man City, who already have a foot in the UCL, will play Bayern in the second leg at the Allianz Arena next week.

Tomas Tuchel however believes that the tie is not yet over and everything is still possible.
