The CAF Champions League first legs of the quarterfinals happened over the weekend and Tanzanian giants SC Simba ended it on a high.
South African side Mamelodi Sundowns also ended their first leg with a win.
Simba hosted the defending champions, Waydad Casablanca at the Benjamin Mpaka stadium in Dar es Salaam.
And thanks to Jean Baleke’s sole goal, the Msimbazi won the tie 1-0.
Mamelodi Sundowns also thrashed CR Belouizdad of Algeria by 4 goals to 1.
The Masandawana goals were scored by Neo Maema, Cassius Mailula and a brace from Peter Shalulilie.
The brace from Peter Shalulilie took him to a tally of 5 goals.
He now has the same goals as Raja Casablanca’s Hamza Khabba. The two are the leading top scorers of the tournament.
Elsewhere in other games, record champions Al Ahly won Raja Casablanca 2 goals to nil.
Return legs will be on Friday and Saturday this week.
