Erik Ten Hag delivers future about David de Gea’s Man United stay
May 8, 2023
Manchester United‘s coach Erik ten Hag has delivered news about David de Gea‘s contract and stay at the Manchester club. And this must be some unwelcome news to some sections of the fans.
Despite the Spanish goalkeeper being arguably United’s best and most consistent player over the years, some fans want him gone.
It however seems the 32 year old will spend some more time at Old Trafford. Ten Hag said that contract talks with him are currently ongoing.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano said that talks are still ongoing. The club wants to propose a completely different structure including the salary. De Gea also meanwhile wants to stay.
“Negotiations between Manchester Utd and David de Gea continue in order to reach an agreement on a new contract — de Gea wants to stay. #MUFC Contract was not extended with +1 year clause as Man Utd hope to agree new terms with different salary.”
Ten Hag also confirmed that the talks are ongoing and they want him to stay. “We want David de Gea to stay here at Manchester United and we want him to extend his contract”. #MUFC “We want him to be with us again next season.”
Meanwhile fans are furious with the goalie over the mistakes he has been making over the years which have cost them games. One of them is the howler in yesterday’s premier league game which gifted Said Benrahma a goal.
This eventually cost the Red Devils the game against West Ham and put their top 4 finish into jeopardy. Manchester United is now a point ahead of Liverpool although they have played a game less than the Kops.
