Uganda is not fit to host the AFCON tournament – Male Mabirizi runs to court
September 29, 2023
Controversial city lawyer Male Mabirizi has run to court challenging Uganda’s ability to host the 2027 joint AFCON tournament. It should be noted that CAF this week announced how the East Africa Pamoja bid was successful.
Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will host the 2027 continental football showpiece. But according to Mabirizi, the Pearl of Africa should be removed from this list for various reasons.
Apparently, he cited some of these as corruption, lack of democracy, sectarianism, nepotism among others. Mabirizi attached a statement on why this bid should be cancelled. He even attached a phone number for all those interested in effecting this bid to see that it becomes successful.
“We have written to @CAF_Online objecting to Uganda’s Hosting of 2027 African Cup of Nations based on 8 broad reasons including collapse of democracy,Rule of law, Corruption, sectarianism, nepotism, lack of democracy in @OfficialFUFA ,etc.Fundraising 070188123.”
Additionally, Male Mabirizi has always been a controversial personality always chasing clout. He has so far sued the likes of Bobi Wine, the Kabaka, President Museveni among others but has never been successful. However, he’s not the only pessimist in this situation.
Meanwhile several Ugandans on social medi have taken to shaming the country in the wake of this announcement all in the name of transparency and human rights.
