Messi or Halaand- Pep Guardiola makes his opinion known over Ballon D’or

Today is the D-day that we have all been waiting for as the prestigious Ballon d’Or award will be awarded to the eventual winner. The stakes are high on Lionel Messi and Erling Halaand although the Argentinean seems the utmost favourite.

Now Pep Guardiola has aired his views about the award on who should win it. The Spaniard coached Messi at the height of Barcelona’s most successful period.

Actually Messi won 4 Ballon D’ors under Guardiola. And he’s on course to win a record extending 8th. A few days ago, Pep tipped Messi to win it after his memorable World Cup triumph in Qatar last year.

And when asked again yesterday after the 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford, the Spaniard said that whoever wins it between Messi and Halaand deserves it.

This is because both had stellar campaigns especially after Messi’s World Cup amd Halaand’s role in the City treble.

“I’ve great affection for Messi and Haaland”.
“If Messi wins, it will be fair win because of the World Cup. If Haaland wins, it will be fair to the season he had”.
“They should give two awards this year! They both deserve to win”, told SC.

A star studded ceremony is expected to go down tonight at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. However, many ex footballers, coaches and current footballers have all backed Messi to win.

Thierry Henry, Micah Richards, Jamie Carragher, Ronaldo Da Lima, Eden Hazard, Olivier Giroud, Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Kylian Mbappe among others have all backed the 36 year old.

There will also be other awards given out tonight such as the Yachine Levy trophy for the best goalkeeper. The Kopa trophy for the best young player, the best female footballer amd coaches.
