David Raya’s future has been decided by Arsenal. The 27 year old is on loan at the Gunners from Brentford. The goalie joined the London based club on loan from The Bees.
Apparently Mikel Arteta’s side has a buy back clause of 27m pounds and the Gunners have decided to activate it. Brentford accepted the loan deal from Arsenal to accommodate Mikel Arteta’s side’s compliance with the Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.
“Understand Arsenal have decided to seal David Raya deal in 2024 — it’s all guaranteed as buy option clause will be triggered for £27m.
Raya already signed potential long-term contract as #AFC player for June 2024 — all done. Brentford accepted this structure due to FFP,” reported Fabrizio Romano.
Raya has been a constant figure for Arsenal in the sticks ever since he joined the club. He has confined Aaron Ramsdale to the bench. The Spanish goalie has featured foe the Gunners 7 times in the league and twice in the UEFA Champions League.
However, he will be on the sidelines as Arsenal take a trip to Brentford on Saturday. Apparently he can’t play against his parent club.
