Thomas Tuchel’s Days At Bayern pm Are Numbered

February 15, 2024

Under-fire Thomas Tuchel, the manager of Bayern Munich, unleashed a vicious attack on his team following their humiliating Wednesday loss to Lazio. Tragic scenes in Rome saw Harry Kane helpless as the German giants’ attempt to win another title took a hit.

Dayot Upamecano was sent off for a reckless challenge inside the area, and Lazio had to defend a 1-0 advantage in Munich after Ciro Immobile scored the penalty. Given the bad performance and loss, Tuchel is understandably under more pressure, and his evaluation of his team by the former Chelsea manager was harsh.

Speaking to the press, the German after l the defeat said that: “No, I’m not worried about my future or [the] potential sack. We did everything to lose this match. It was in our hands. At a certain point we stopped believing, I’ve no idea why. There were many individual mistakes”.

However, following the game, Christoph Freund, the sports director of Bayern Munich, told Sky Germany that togetherness is necessary in these difficult times.

“Of course he is struggling with the situation, which is very difficult for all of us. Our goal is to fight our way out of this together. We’re all in the same boat.”

Bayern lost a lot of ground in the Bundesliga title race in their previous match, which added to their Wednesday night anguish. This season’s surprise package Bayer Leverkusen easily defeated Tuchel 3-0, taking five points after 21 games and leaving the Bayern players looking obviously angry.

Xabi Alonso was the guy who outperformed Thomas Tuchel. On Sunday, Tuchel’s team plays VfL Bochum, who are currently in 14th position in the Bundesliga. The Bavarian giants should have an easier time in that encounter, but a mistake will undoubtedly mean the German coach’s time is running out.
