Due to left knee soreness, Argentina‘s striker Alejandro Garnacho will miss the squad’s World Cup qualifying matches against Bolivia and Venezuela, the team said on Monday.
The 20-year-old winger for Manchester United finished the Premier League match on Sunday, drawing 0-0 with Aston Villa, but he will not be traveling with the Argentina team.
Argentina, who are currently atop the rankings with eight games played and eighteen points, will go to sixth-place Venezuela on Thursday and will host eighth-place Bolivia on Tuesday.
Although Garnacho was originally called up for the two games, Leicester City’s Facundo Buonanotte has now been named the starting substitute by coach Lionel Scaloni.
Alejandro Garnacho, who has seven caps, participated in the Copa America in the United States in July, the year Argentina won its record 16th championship.
