Ugandan football fans were treated to a classic game as two of the biggest clubs in the country, Vipers SC hosted KCCA at St Mary’s Kitende.
This game had so much at stake and each side came into the match knowing the repercussion of the results. Soon after kickoff, Abubaker Lawal almost handed the Venoms the lead in the 4th minute but his close range shot was parried away by KCCA‘s goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan.
Each side started attacking the other and all sides almost came close to hurting the other. Both clubs had penalty claims which were waved away by referee Mashmood Ssali.
Tempers soon started flaring and Vipers goalkeeping coach Ibrahim Mugisha got sent off. This was after KCCA’s Mustafa Mujjuzi had fouled Isa Mubiru.
Winger Allan Okello almost handed the visitors the lead but his shot kissed the post. Rogers Mato had a chance but sent he ball wide begging.
Vipers captain Milton Karisa in the 89th minute sent the stadium into a meltdown after his shot found the back of the net.
The drama did not just end here. KCCA’s Congolese forward Simon Tshisungu Kakonde was shown a straight red card. This is after he punched the referee.
KCCA coach Jackson Mayanja had the referee Mashmood Ssali to blame for his side’s loss. The game left Vipers 1 point off the summit which is occupied by SC Villa who have 46 points.
The Jogoos however have played two more games than Vipers and one more than KCCA. Both KCCA and Vipers are tied at 45 points.
