Mikel Arteta provides injury update ahead of Bolton game in Carabao cup

This evening, Arsenal returns to action as they play Bolton Wanderers in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

The Gunners will have the chance to rest some important players heading into tonight’s match after holding Manchester City to a 2-2 draw in the Premier League on Sunday.

“It’s a great opportunity for any player to show what they are doing in the games if they didn’t get the chance to play yet,” Arteta said when asked about youngsters being handed a chance.

“To transform what they’ve been doing in training and give us the right reason on the pitch.”

In other developments, even though the summer transfer window is closed, Arsenal is still being linked to forwards.
According to reports, when Jonathan David’s contract with LOSC Lille expires at the end of the current campaign, Arsenal is willing to make the move.
The Gunners have had their eye on David for a while, but there has never been a transfer. There is a long waiting list for his services as he is scheduled to become a free agent in the summer of 2019.

According to Italian publication Tuttomercatoweb, Arsenal are willing to compete with numerous Italian clubs interested in the Canadian forward. Since leaving KAA Gent to join the French team, David has scored 88 goals.

The condition of Arsenal’s players will be revealed by the starting lineup that manager Arteta chooses for Wednesday’s match against Bolton Wanderers, he has claimed.

Sunday’s exhilarating 2-2 tie between the Gunners and Man City was marred by criticism for many players who had to leave the field to need medical attention at the Etihad Stadium. Jurrien Timber, Riccardo Calafiori, Gabriel Martinelli, and David Raya were all charged with disrupting the match.

But Arteta has retaliated against allegations that his group employed “dark arts” to outwit City.

 “I always prefer the facts to words or supposing things,” Arteta said.

“Let’s see who is available tomorrow and then we can talk about dark arts or these things or if it’s a reality. Other things will be factors and that’s it. We will use the facts. What are the other factors? Well, if a player is faking something that means he will carry on and be involved in the squad and play. Unfortunately, there will be a few players not available.”

Arteta was asked whether his team had suffered any serious injuries at City. “We have to wait on one of them,” he replied.
