Barcelona’s pursuit of vital three points against Real Sociedad this evening has been impacted by the absence of Lamine Yamal.
The 17-year-old has become a key player in the Blaugrana attack, having accumulated 12 goals and assists in 12 La Liga matches to date. However, the significant playing time has understandably taken its toll on Yamal, leading to muscle overload that has kept him out of the lineup.
To address the reason for the young player’s absence, manager Hansi Flick stepped in to clarify the situation.
During the pre-match press conference, Flick was questioned about Yamal’s expected return, to which the coach replied, “I don’t know how long Lamine will be out, we are focused on today’s match against Real Sociedad.”
As the international break nears, Barcelona is optimistic that Yamal won’t be sidelined for an extended period and may see him back on the field for their upcoming match. Nevertheless, Flick has chosen not to make any predictions about his comeback at this time. In support of the Spanish talent, Flick remarked, “We tried until the end with Lamine. We have to take care of him, he has problems with his ankle.“
Nonetheless, he also seized the chance to support Fermin Lopez, who is stepping in for him in the starting squad. Recently, he netted a goal against Red Star Belgrade and performed remarkably well against Bayern Munich not long ago.
“We will be missing an important player, but in the end we have another player, Fermin, who will come in and he has also played well in the last games,” Flick affirmed.
