March 1, 2023

Two of the Uganda Hippos team have been selected by CAF as part of the best 11 for the AFCON U20 tournament basing on the matches played in the groupstages.

The two are defender Torach Ochaki and winger Rogers Mugisha.

This team is dominated by west Africans.

In fact there are just 4 players that are not from West African countries.

Besides the two Ugandans, the other players to slot in are Congo Brazzaville’s Prince Soussou in midfield and forward Deogracias Bassinga.

Senegal has 4 players in this team. Nigeria, the Gambia and Benin all have one player in the squad.

The Gambian national tem coach Abdoulie Bojang was selected as the team’s gaffer.

Meanwhile the Uganda Hippos qualified for the last 8 as group B leaders after the tossing of a coin.

They will be facing the AFCON U20 record cup winners, Nigeria

Apparently the two nations will clash with each other tomorrow March 2nd.

The main target now according to coach Jackson Mayanja is getting a semi final slot which will automatically give them a world cup slot.

“The most important moment was qualification to the Quarterfinals. Our main target as a team is to qualify for World Cup. We have one more game against Nigeria to achieve it.” He said.
