The final of the U20 AFCON tournament which is currently taking place in Egypt has finally been set and The Gambia will take on Senegal.
Senegal ejected North Africans Tunisia by 3 goals to nil.
Pape Demba broke the deadlock for Senegal before Lamine Camara extended the lead for the Teranga Cubs.
This was Papa Demba’s 5th goal of the tournament and he’s currently the top scorer.
The first half ended with Senegal 2-0 up.
Lamine Camara completed his brace for the Teranga Cubs in the second half.
The West Africans put up a brilliant performance and booked their spot in the finals.
The other game was played later on between The Gambia and record champions, Nigeria.
The game had just started before Adama Bojang gifted Gambia the lead in the 8th minute.
The Gambians finished halftime with the lead in their grip.
Despite the pressure and attacks from the Nigerias who ejected the Uganda Hippos in the quarterfinals, the Gambians held on tight.
Haruna Rashid Njie a midfielder for the Gambia was sent off in the 89th minute after he picked up a second yellow card.
The final now will be between Senegal and The Gambia on 11th March 2023.
Nigeria and Tunisia will clash off for the third spot play off a day earlier.
Meanwhile the 4 countries who all played the semi finals will represent Africa in the U20 World Cup in Indonesia between May-June.
