Minister Ogwang updates on latest development of Buhinga and Akii Bua Stadium

As Uganda is preparing to submit their 2027 AFCON hosting bids, they will have to present the qualified CAF standard stadiums.
Last week the Parliament of Uganda approved the proposal to give support to FUFA to have a joint bid with Tanzania.
When the Joint bid with Tanzania to host AFCON 2027 gets successful, both countries will have to present three CAF standard stadiums.
Uganda will present three stadiums including Mandela stadium, Akibua Memorial Stadium and Buhinga.
Minister of state for sports Peter Ogwang has now analyzed on the latest developments of Buhinga and Akii Bua Stadium.
” In order to start the construction of Buhinga and Akii Bua Stadium a report on feasibility studies. Concept designs and environmental and social impact assessments was submitted to the ministry of defence”.
“Buhinga is designed to host 26,000 people with two netball courts, two volleyball courts, two hand ball courts. Two basketball courts. An artificial turf, three tennis courts a fitness center and a hotel all to cost US$ 64 Million”.
“The proposed 30,000 seater Akii Bua Stadium upon completion will have an athletics track, two netball courts. Two volleyball courts, two basketball courts. Two hand ball courts, an artificial turf, three tennis courts and a swimming pool “.
” The projects will allow Uganda to host international competitions like Confederation of African football and FIFA World cup qualification games”.
The deadline for the submission of the hosting rights will be on 23rd May.
