French football club Paris Saint Germain (PSG) have suspended their star player Lionel Messi for about two weeks after he violated the club’s protocol.
Apparently the 7 time Ballon D’or winner traveled to Saudi Arabia after the Parisiens 3-1 home loss to Lorient in the Ligue 1.
As a result Messi missed PSG’s training session on Monday. And since he hadn’t gotten the club’s permission to travel, the club has decided to suspend him.
This suspension will also include not earning his weekly wages for those weeks.
🚨 Paris Saint-Germain have decided to suspend Lionel Messi with immediate effect for two weeks, sources confirm.
The suspension will take place now after Messi’s trip to Saudi NOT authorized by the club as per @RMCSport.
Saudi Tourism minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb tweeted how they were glad to welcome the 2022 World Cup winner to the Middle East country.
“I am happy to welcome Messi and his family to Saudi to enjoy the magical tourist destinations and authentic experiences,” Al-Khateeb tweeted. “We welcome visitors from all around the world. To experience a unique trip to Saudi Arabia and its hospitality.”

It should be recalled that the former Barcelona talisman is in the final months of his contract with PSG.
Reports further say that his relationship with the club is broken. There is less chances of him renewing his contract there.
His former club Barcelona are looking to prize him away from the French capital.
However, his return to Catalonia will only happen if Barcelona managed to sort out their financial mess.
