Arsenal and Manchester United learn their UCL groupstage opponents

The UEFA Champions League draws for the groupstages were held yesterday in Monte Carlo, Monaco and each team learnt their opponents. English Premier League side Arsenal FC after 6 years out of the much coveted competition returned and will hope to make it out of the group stages.

The Gunners were pitted against Spanish side Sevilla who won the Europa League in Group D. They will also take on Dutch side PSV and French side RC Lens.

Mikel Arteta’s side should he able to progress from the group stages as they seem to have weaker opponents.

Manchester United seems to have a more a difficult groupstage. In group A, they will take on German giants Bayern Munich. A tricky opponent in Galatasaray and Danish side FC Copenhagen will wrap up the group.

Group F will see new boys Newcastle who last appeared in the UCL in 2002-03 will face PSG, Dortmund and AC Milan.

The last spot by an EPL side is in Group G by current champions, Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s side will face Crvena Zvezda, RB Leipzig and Swiss side, Young Boys.

Record champions Real Madrid are in Group B alongside Serie A champions Napoli, Union Berlin and Braga.

Group H sees Barcelona against Porto, Shaktar and Belgian side Royal Antwerp.

The ceremony also saw the best UEFA Men’s player and coach awarded. Manchester City and Norwegian forward Erling Haaland who has been in robust form won the best player award.

He finished ahead of Lionel Messi and Kevin De Bruyne in second and third position respectively.

Pep Guardiola was crowned as the best coach in the awards.

The groupstages will commence from 19th September to 13th December 2023.
