Do you know the topscorer of the Uganda Cranes? Here are top 10 goalscorer of the National team

The Uganda National football team, the Cranes is a team Ugandans have over the years fallen in love with greatly as football is arguably the greatest sport in the country.

Right from the 70’s, Uganda Cranes has always given Ugandans a nostalgic feeling.

There have been highs and lows but above all, our goalscorers over these years are people that can’t escape our memories.

As other countries celebrate the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Neymar, Wayne Rooney, Miroslav Klose etc being their top scorers, let’s take a look at our own top 10 goalscorers of all time.

  1. Emmanuel Okwi

Currently Emma Okwi is the captain of the Uganda Cranes and the leading goalscorer of the National team.

He has 28 goals from 91 games and has played for the National team since 2009.

  1. Farouk Miya

Perhaps this is an impressive achievement for the attacker having started playing for the Cranes just 9 years ago.

He’s got 23 goals from 74 appearances and might give a shot at Okwi’s record.

  1. Geoffrey Massa

This is a name Ugandans can’t forget for all the memories at Namboole.

He netted 22 goals from 72 appearances.

Massa played for the Cranes between 2005-2017.

  1. Hassan Mubiru

All those well acquainted with Ugandan football know who Hassan Mubiru is.

He netted 18 goals for the Cranes from 68 caps between 1998-2007.

  1. David Obua

Talk about skill, flair and goals and you will have David Obua‘s name.

He netted 18 goals from 58 appearances.

Obua played for the Cranes for 8 years between 2003-2011.

  1. Geoffrey Sserunkuma

This is not a new name in Ugandan football.

Geoffrey Sserunkuma bagged 14 goals from 54 appearances.

He started featuring for the Cranes in 2002 and retired in 2017.

  1. Brian Umony

The ex KCCA striker scored 12 goals from 36 appearances for the National team.

Brian Umony‘s career at the national level started in 2009 up to 2015.

  1. Patrick Kaddu and Philip Obwiny
Patrick Kaddu

The duo share the same number of goals.

Patrick Kaddu however is still an active player and might go further up the list if he continues to score once summoned for the National team.

He has 9 goals from 21 appearances and started featuring for the Cranes in 2018.

For Obwiny, he scored 9 goals in 47 appearances between 1994-2003.

  1. Cesar Okhuti and George Ssemwogerere
Cesar Okhuti

This duo has the same number of goals, 8 from the same number of appearances 31.

What differs is the years. Cesar Okhuti played for the Cranes between 2007-2016.

Ssemwogerere on the hand played for the Cranes between 1992-2001.

  1. Robert Ssentongo, Dan Wagaluka and Tony Mawejje
Tony Mawejje

The list is concluded by three former Cranes players.

These players also have the same number of goals as the ones in number 9.

Robert Ssentongo scored 8 from 45 appearances between 2004-2016.

Dan Wagaluka had 8 from 62 appearances between 2004-2012.

And the midfield general, Tony Mawejje had 8 from 86 appearances between 2003-2022.
