Uganda Premier League Express FC have today evening cruised into the quarterfinals of the Stanbic Uganda cup after thrashing Paidha Black Angels.
The Red Eagles started the game by exerting pressure on the visitors at the Muteesa II stadium in Wankulukuku.
And in just the 9th minute, their relentless work was rewarded with a beautiful finish from Sekyanzi.
Attack after attack saw the home side almost bag a second but it was not until the 35th minute.
Boban Zirintusa opened his scoring for Express with a header after a nice cross from Allan Kayiwa.
James Odoch’s side weren’t yet done and Zirintusa tapped in from the post his second and Express’ 3rd in the 41st minute.
The game was now put out of control for the West Nile side and all they had to do was damage control.
The Mukwano Gwabangi always looked like they were on the verge of scoring the next goal as the attacks kept on pouring in.
It was however Ivan Ntege who scored Express’ 4th and final goal in the 69th minute.
He smashed the ball into the roof of the net after being assisted by Ssebagala.
Express kept on with the attacks and in the 75th minute, Odoch made a triple substitution.
Shabene, Oshaba, Mayanja and Musoke came on for Zirintuusa, Ssebagala, Ssekyanzi and Ssenoga.
Allan Kayiwa was also subbed off in the 84th minute glr Denis Otim.
There wasn’t much Paidha could do about the score and Express also didn’t add any goals.
Apparently the game ended 4-0 in Express’ favor and they are bow quarterfinalists.
BUL FC also qualified for the last 8 after beating Onduparaka 1-0.
So far 4 teams have qualified for the quarterfinals.
