The Uganda Cranes will today ‘host’ Tanzania at the Suez Canal Authority stadium at 5pm.
This will be the first leg of the double header between the two sides and Uganda will be hoping for nothing short of a win.
Uganda and Tanzania will be meeting for a 62nd time.
The Cranes hold the upper hand in this fixture.
They have won 32 times with their neighbors managing 13 wins.
The other 16 times have ended up in draws.
These two nations last played each other at such a stage in 2019.
A clash in Kampala ended in a goalless draw while Tanzania were 3-0 winners in Dar es Salaam.
The Cranes however had already qualified for the AFCON tournament.
The Taifa Stars are under a new coach known as Adel Amrouche who will be hoping to collect 3 points off Micho’s side.
Meanwhile Micho is optimistic his side is in better shape to collect the 3 points .
“We have done so much behind the scenes for close to nine months to make sure we get good results against Tanzania,”
“I believe that we are mentally ready, physically fit, technically effective and tactically aware. Playing in a derby means you must be at your best because such games are determined by small margins.”
Both of these sides last appeared at the AFCON in 2019 and missed out on the previous edition in Cameroon.
Uganda is currently bottom of the group with just one point the same as Tanzania.
The Tanzanians however have a better goal difference.
