Tottenham Hotspurs have sacked headcoach Antonio Conte after a poor run of results and losing the dressing room.
A statement released by the English Premier League club stated that Conte had left his position after mutual agreement.
Besides the club appreciated the Italian for his contributions and wished him well ahead.
“We can announce that Head Coach Antonio Conte has left the Club by mutual agreement. Further we achieved Champions League qualification in Antonio’s first season at the Club. We thank Antonio for his contribution and wish him well for the future.”
Furthermore, Spurs announced that Cristian Stellini will be the interim coach for the remainder of the season.
He will be assisted by Ryan Mason.
“Cristian Stellini will take the team as Acting Head Coach for the remainder of the season, along with Ryan Mason as Assistant Head Coach.”
Apparently London based club’s chairman Daniel Levy called upon the club to pull together ahead of the remaining 10 games.
This is because they have to turn their focus on qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
“We have 10 Premier League games remaining and we have a fight on our hands for a Champions League place. We all need to pull together. Everyone has to step up to ensure the highest possible finish for our Club and amazing, loyal supporters.”
Antonio Conte blasted the Spurs player after their 3-3 draw with Southampton.
The Lilywhites squandered a 3-1 lead at bottom placed Southampton a thing that annoyed Conte.
“It’s better to go into the problem, we are not a team. We are 11 players that go into the pitch.
“I see selfish players, players that don’t want to help each other and don’t put their heart.”
The Italian lasted just 16 months in London and this is the 4th manager facing the axe following Mauricio Pochettino‘s departure in 2019.
The club will return to action in the EPL on 3rd April with a trip to Everton.
